Between Lands is an ongoing project that explores belonging, dislocation and the quiet spaces that exist between two places. Bringing together photographs made in the UK and Tanzania, the publication acts as a medium for presenting images, and as a reflective space for contemplating the experience of transitioning between places. The book format allows for a considered sequence that mirrors the fragmented nature of memory and place, reflecting on the experience of living between geographies that feel connected and apart. Through a restrained visual language, Between Lands traces the subtle shifts between past and present, presence and absence, offering a study of what it means to search for home. Rather than offering resolution, the work ultimately sits within the uncertainty of in-betweenness.
